No one has ever eaten a better meal than that which one has earned by working with one’s own hands.

About Me

Hello, I'm a software engineer with 7+ years of experience currently living in the DFW area offering a multitude of services including Consulting, Career Mentorship, and Mock Interview services. I grew up in the Midwest, spending most of my time either playing sports or video games (there wasn't really much else to do). Modding games such as GTA and creating fancy banner messages in RuneScape made me feel like a tech wizard. This started my fascination with technology. I didn't think writing code could be much harder than knowing what to Google online. In a sense, I was both right and wrong. Following this interest, I enrolled at Purdue University - Indianapolis, majoring in Computer Science. During my time there, I interned at Indiana University Medical School as a Data Analyst Programmer and during the summer at Salesforce as a Software Engineer in Indianapolis.

Post-graduation, I accepted a full-time offer to work for Salesforce in San Francisco, where I spent almost 5 years. During my time at Salesforce, I primarily worked on testing and deployment frameworks. I helped build the initial framework for integration testing and also helped with migrating Salesforce foundational services to the public cloud (AWS/GCP). On my time away from work, I spent most of my other time hiking and exploring different parts of the Bay Area.

Having worked with AWS as a customer, I was intrigued by how efficiently and easily everything worked in the public cloud. Fixated on this, I applied to Amazon so I could get an in-depth view of how Amazon and AWS operated. I spent nearly 3 years at Amazon trying to learn many of the different services being offered by AWS and best practices around using them. While at Amazon, I spent the first 2 years working on launching new marketplaces and leading the launch of a new marketplace in Turkey. Afterwards, I spent the last year optimizing how Amazon pays billions of dollars in sales tax in the United States.

After spending 3 years at Amazon and almost 8 years at big tech companies, I decided it was time for a change of scenery to a startup. Currently, I am a Senior Engineer at MapBox. MapBox is a Series E startup that specializes in providing location, mapping, and navigation services, taking on giants in the space such as Google.

Since leaving the Bay Area, I've settled in Dallas. It's been quite the change, moving from San Francisco to the suburbia of Texas, trading BART/MUNI for a car and Cali burritos for Texas brisket. As of now, my hobbies include tech, investing, securities research, real estate, video gaming, and sports. Outside of work, you'll find me exploring the Dallas food scene with my wife or spending time with my 2 cats, Bongo and Goose Noodle.
